I found this old tube radio in my house and tried to use it. Turns out the speakers are blown and the tubes are shot. It also had a laser disk player, not a record player. This radio needs some TLC if it ever wants to play music again. There was a Madonna album in the laser disk player. After hack-sawing through the stripped bolts I was able to remove the radio/amplifier. I am going to replace all of this with a modern amplifier, while maintaining the old look and faceplate of the radio. I am really fascinated with the analog preset buttons and tuner, hopefully I can get them to work with a modern day receiver somehow. |
